9:00 am Worship Every Sunday
A seed was planted for a building fund in 1979 when a long-time member saw a need for a bigger, modern place of worship. Land was eventually purchased on the east side of Burkhardt in 2006 after years of planning. Soon a committee was assembled to research the needs and desires of the congregation. An architect with experience in working with churches was chosen to help put these ideas into a drawing to be presented to members. By 2008, the blueprints were finalized. Our congregation was blessed over the next years with generous gifts and offerings from members and friends. It was not until 2011 that we celebrated with a ground-breaking service at the new site with the actual work beginning in August.
Over the next year and a half, a beautiful new facility was completed which gave us nearly five times the floor space all on one level. We are grateful for all the untold volunteer hours that so many people put in to complete all the interior work. A big part of their effort was to move the 108 year old stained-glass window from the old church and reinstall it in the new sanctuary. It is now back-lit so all can appreciate the window that was originally a gift given by Mr. Christian Burkhardt in memory of his wife, Ernstine. Friends of the congregation contributed their skills by constructing interior doors and cabinets, and brick and tile work. All the interior painting and finishing of oak trim was completed by members. Many members contributed funds to purchase kitchen counter tops, equipment and supplies. All new pewchairs were purchased with help from members as well. All their hard work is reflected in the beauty of the facility.
We now have a large, spacious sanctuary, and an ample kitchen and fellowship area. Parking is no longer a problem with an expansive lot. Our first service was our dedication service on January 15th, 2012 at which we celebrated with our bishop and a large number of friends and relations.
Redeemer Lutheran is poised to grow and to serve our community and share the Good News in the years to come!
